As critical separation equipment in API manufacturing, centrifuge units for pharmaceutical raw materials directly influence the purity and yield of active pharmaceutical ingredients, serving as a core hub connecting API synthesis and refining processes. Following completion of synthesis reactions in API production, a mixed system containing the target product, impurities, solvents, and other components is generated. Centrifuge equipment for APIs achieves solid-liquid separation through centrifugal force, isolating solid API products from the mixture and laying the foundation for subsequent drying, refining, and other procedures. Compared with traditional filtration equipment, API centrifuges feature high separation efficiency, large processing capacity, continuous operation, and other advantages, making them better suited to the demands of large-scale API production.

Process optimization of API centrifuge equipment should focus on two core objectives: separation efficiency and separation quality. The separation factor is a key indicator for evaluating the separation capacity of API centrifuges. APIs with different properties require different separation factors; for instance, APIs with low density and fine particles demand a higher separation factor to achieve efficient separation. The separation factor can be precisely controlled by adjusting the rotating speed and drum diameter of the centrifuge, thereby optimizing separation performance. Meanwhile, the structural design of the drum also affects separation efficiency. Centrifuges equipped with a screw-conveying drum enable continuous feeding and discharging, reducing downtime during production and improving overall efficiency.

Material selection is an important consideration in the design and application of API centrifuge equipment. Some materials used in API production may be corrosive. If product-contact components of the centrifuge are made of ordinary metals, corrosion may occur, which not only shortens the service life of the equipment but also may cause metal ion leaching and contaminate the API. Therefore, core components such as the drum and pusher of API centrifuges are usually fabricated from corrosion-resistant materials including stainless steel and titanium alloy, with specialized surface treatments, ensuring stable performance in complex production environments and preventing adverse impacts on API quality.

Standardized operation and equipment sealing are also critical to ensuring stable operation of API centrifuges. During operation, parameters such as feeding speed and feed concentration must be controlled in strict accordance with process procedures to avoid excessive equipment vibration or reduced separation efficiency caused by improper operation. In addition, the sealing performance of API centrifuges is directly related to the cleanliness of the production environment and the safety of operators. A dual sealing structure combining mechanical seals and lip seals can effectively prevent material leakage and ingress of external impurities, ensuring that the production process complies with cleanliness requirements in the pharmaceutical industry. Rational process optimization, high-quality material selection, and standardized operational management together form a comprehensive support system for the efficient operation of API centrifuge equipment.
