General Information

Drug Name: Beclometasone Dipropionate Cream

Main Ingredient: Beclometasone dipropionate. It is a corticosteroid with anti - inflammatory, anti - allergic, and immunosuppressive effects.

Indications

It is indicated for allergic and inflammatory skin diseases and related conditions, such as eczema, allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus, palmoplantar pustulosis, pruritus, psoriasis, etc.

Pharmacological Actions

Anti - Inflammatory Action: It can inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine and prostaglandins, reduce capillary dilation and permeability, and thus relieve skin inflammation, redness, swelling, and pain.

Anti - Allergic Action: It suppresses the immune response of the body to allergens, reduces the production of antibodies, and alleviates allergic symptoms such as itching and rash.

Immunosuppressive Action: To a certain extent, it can inhibit the function of immune cells, such as lymphocytes, thereby regulating the abnormal immune response in the skin.

Dosage and Administration

The cream is usually applied topically to the affected area 2 - 4 times a day. The specific dosage and frequency depend on the type and severity of the skin disease, as well as the patient's age and physical condition. It should be gently rubbed into the skin until evenly distributed. For chronic or severe skin conditions, a longer course of treatment may be required under the guidance of a doctor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to beclometasone dipropionate or any other ingredients in the cream.

Viral skin infections (such as herpes simplex, varicella - zoster), fungal skin infections, or bacterial skin infections that are not controlled.

It is generally not recommended for use on the face, groin, and axillae for a long time due to the relatively high skin sensitivity in these areas and the risk of side effects.

Side Effects

Local Side Effects: Skin atrophy, striae, telangiectasia, pigmentation changes, and acne - like eruptions may occur at the application site. Prolonged use may also lead to secondary infections due to the suppression of the skin's immune function.

Systemic Side Effects: Rarely, if the drug is absorbed in large amounts, it may cause systemic side effects such as adrenal suppression, increased blood pressure, and hyperglycemia. This is more likely to occur in patients with extensive skin lesions or those who use the drug for a long time.

Precautions

It should be used with caution in patients with impaired skin barrier function to avoid increased drug absorption and potential side effects.

Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

During use, if the skin condition does not improve or worsens, or if new symptoms appear, the use of the drug should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted.

It is not recommended to use occlusive dressings without the doctor's advice, as this may increase the absorption of the drug and the risk of side effects.

For pregnant and lactating women, the use of this drug should be carefully considered under the guidance of a doctor, weighing the potential benefits and risks to the mother and fetus or infant.
